What is Reliability Engineering
Reliability Engineering is involved in the prevention of failures of systems, machines and components that are commonly found in the workplace of a company. In this discipline, the term reliability refers to the level of dependability, costs and accuracy of a product or procedure.
The daily duties of a Reliability Engineer include analysing, planning and supervising of anything that contains significant risk(s). In some cases, Reliability Engineers must be proficient in the use of advanced Engineering software packages such as finite element tools to model a component or system and accurately predict how and when it will fail.
Many companies have a quality assessment or control department(s) which can contain teams of Reliability Engineers that tirelessly work to prevent failures by taking a strategic view of operations.
