What is Financial Engineering
Financial Engineering is a postgraduate discipline that focuses Engineering principles on Financial theory and provides a systematic tool kit for analysing financial markets. It is also referred to as Computational Finance. As new methods and more importance is placed on data capturing of consumer behaviour and economic models, Financial Engineering is a growing field.
It is typically less hands-on than most of the core Engineering disciplines and would suit someone who has an interest in learning programming languages. As such there is a greater focus on mastering maths concepts and being able to use mathematical models in this discipline.
